Food and Nutrition

What type of foods do you eat? Are you eating a healthy diet or not? Is it even important to eat a healthy diet? The food pyramid is a great source for knowing what should be in your diet. Reflect on your individual diet and compare it to the food pyramid. In a comment, brainstorm what you will say to your parents about your diet and what you are eating. Include vocabulary words such as; meats, grains, carbohydrates, nutrition, and dairy to guide your thoughts.

Summer Reading is Awesome!

So, just because the summer is finally here, doesnt mean we should all just forget about learning. While you are enjoying some time away from school, remember to read over the break. Go to your local bookstore or library and get a book that is interesting to you. Reading books that spark an interest in you are the best ones because you will find yourself not wanting to put the book down. If you are the age of my students, (9 and 10) I recommend anything by Jerry Spinelli, Judy Blume, or the Magic Treehouse collection. You will be surprised how fast you can get through a good book and how much your reading will have improved by August 25th. Ok, so get to it and leave me comments about the books your read. This way we can start a new list for other to read!

PBL here at Kimmel Farm (problem based learning)

Well, girls and boys as you know, your teachers have learning how to use the PBL model. As I told you last week, this is the model that medical students are using. Guess what, now we are too! You all got to participate in your first PBL lesson last week using electricity. Tell me the steps we followed in the lesson. What are your thoughts on the PBL model that we did? Write down any thoughts on how the two groups who got their bulb to light did it. Have fun blogging!

Black History Month is here!

We are over half way in to Black History Month. Have you learned something about an African American that you didnt know before this month? Don't forget, many people helped to make our daily living what it is today and it is okay to learn and reflect on that. Tell about someone you have learned about this month and why they are important. Be descriptive and remember, Black History goes beyond February.
