PBL here at Kimmel Farm (problem based learning)

Well, girls and boys as you know, your teachers have learning how to use the PBL model. As I told you last week, this is the model that medical students are using. Guess what, now we are too! You all got to participate in your first PBL lesson last week using electricity. Tell me the steps we followed in the lesson. What are your thoughts on the PBL model that we did? Write down any thoughts on how the two groups who got their bulb to light did it. Have fun blogging!

    the first step was finding the facts. then we wrote the need to knows.the modelwas neet. i think it is cool that we got to make lightbulb models.

    First we gathered all the materials. Second, we got the lightbulb and the battery. Third, we attached the wire to the battery. Then we put the other end attached to the lightbulb. We had to wait a minute because it took a while to warm up. After a minute or so we saw it light.

    First the teacher put a promblem on the board the groups wrote the facts about the problem then we wrote the need to knows then the teacher gave us a box with a battery,wire,and a lightbulb we had to make the lightbulb to light with those materials I cant count how many times we had to brainstorm........... lolz

    Sylvester, I like that you mentioned that you were having to brainstorm so much to get the bulb to light. Im sure your mind was going a hundred miles per hour trying to figure out what would work. Im glad you guys finally got it!

    Your comments were right on point with what we did in class. Do you think the other kids enjoyed having to figure it all out on their own? We are going to be doing alot more of that because we are at a PBL school. Thanks for your comment.

    First Mrs.Palmer let us stuf the boxes with the objects we needed. Then we went to our groups and and worte down the Need to Knows and Facts about the paper we read. After that we tried to get our bulb to light. I don't think my groups buld to light because I was not here the other day we did it. We had to use the materials in the box to light the bulb. We could only use some of the stuff like the wire, battery and the bulb.

    I felt like I had brain damage because I had gotton a light bulb to light before! Here is how my group got our bulb to light, 1st we gathered our materials, 2nd we had a question on a small white peice of paper. 3rd we had to write facts and need to knows from the small peice of white paper. we went over and my group had one more on our paper than what was on the prominthian board. After that we tryed to get our bulbs to light with a batterie, wire, and a small bulb. Lura's group was the first to get it on the 1st day we tryed it, but on the 2nd my group got it 1st because we had our batterie the next day! I really liked the fact that we are doing electricity! :)

    I think electricity is a great way to teach people not to use electricity the wrong way.

    In our pbl we brained stormed on stuff that we need to know and facts.next we found out to use electricity the right way in ourpbl.

    First we had to get the ligbulb to light.We couldnt figure out how to get the bulb to light but then mrs.Palmer siad we had to put the wire on both sides and we got it to light.
